Continuous Provision
At Broomhill Infant School, we believe that young children learn best when they are actively involved, curious and able to explore ideas for themselves. Continuous provision is an important part of our curriculum from Nursery through to Year 2. It provides carefully planned opportunities for children to revisit teaching, practise new skills, make connections and apply their knowledge through purposeful play, investigation and practical experiences.
Our learning environments evolve as the children grow. Children progress from wondering and exploring to practising, applying, questioning, problem-solving and demonstrating their learning independently. Skilled adults observe, model language, ask thoughtful questions and extend children’s ideas at the right moment. Through this approach, children develop confidence, independence, resilience, creativity and a genuine love of learning.
At Broomhill, continuous provision does not disappear as children move through the school—it develops with them, ensuring that every child has meaningful opportunities to explore, communicate, collaborate and deepen their understanding.
