World Oceans Day

June 12, 2022

Wednesday 8th June was World Oceans Day and Sycamore Class were busy becoming Geographers, thinking about ways they could help save our seas.

The children explored atlases, maps and Google Earth to find out about the five oceans and where they are located. They also took part in a live lesson about plastic pollution and discovered how much plastic ends up in our oceans.

In their Writing sessions the children wrote pledges to say what they would do to help keep our oceans clean and discussed why the oceans are so important. They also created some Acrostic poems based around sea creatures in provision.

In Maths they created pictograms and tally charts to find out the most popular sea creatures.

For Art, they created posters with the title ‘Save our Oceans’ and also made some 3D creatures for our World Oceans Day display area.

Well done Sycamore Class- you had some fantastic ideas about how to help our planet!
