Last week we found out about Guy Fawkes- who he was and what he has to do with Bonfire Night.

We found out some facts about him and made posters which we shared with our friends. We learned that he was alive a very long time ago- in 1605. He was part of a group of people who tried to blow up King James I and the Houses of Parliament with gunpowder. The King found out about the gunpowder plot and caught Guy Fawkes. On 5th November each year we remember this time and celebrate that the plot didn’t work.

We collected sticks and made our own bonfire in the Year 2 garden. We had to work together to make sure our firewood stayed up.

We made our own Guys in teams using paper and other recycled materials.
We then set our Guys on fire to see which would burn the quickest. We found that the Guys made from paper were the quickest to burn.
