Remembrance Day

November 27, 2022

Historians

This week we have been learning about the importance of Remembrance Day.

We held a 2-minute silence to pay our respects to those who died in the wars and read the story ‘Flo of the Somme’ to learn about the different animals who helped during the wars.

We learned about the soldiers’ lives in World War I and the conditions in the trenches. The children imagined they were soldiers and wrote letters home.

They also painted poppies, using their knowledge of colour mixing. They added white or black to red to change the shade and mixed blue and yellow to make green for the stem and leaves.

Bedtime stories

We really enjoyed coming back to school for bedtime stories where Miss Stephanie and Miss W read us stories. We also enjoyed a yummy biscuit and hot chocolate thanks to the PTA.

Nadia Shireen – virtual visit

We were super lucky to attend a virtual visit from Nadia Shireen. She read her latest books and helped us draw illustrations from her book. It was a really fun experience!
