Making Porridge

October 1, 2022

Continuing our theme of Goldilocks and the Three bears this week has been an exciting adventure full of real life experiences. We have been writing shopping lists ready for some of the children to go to the co-op with Miss Lindsay. They did a fantastic job using their reading skills to read the list and mathematcial skills to find the right money. We have also been using our reading and mathematical skills to read the recipes and follow instructions. Learning about ordinal words, measuring and problem solving (because Debi accidently got a jug that wasa too small, then she didn’t have enough milk!! oh dear!!!). We even managed to fit in some comaprison of numbers using greater and snaller. The children absolutely loved it especially trying different toppings and were great friends helping to tidy up afterwards. We continued to use this experience in our learning using photos to continue to focus on sequencing afterwards and even used the photos for a stimulus for writing at the end of the week. the fact that the children were writing about something that they had enjoyed and took part in really enhanced their writing and meant that they were even more confident than usual. Well done Holly Class another amazing week!
