Welcome back, Holly Class!

On Monday, we learnt about on of Bristol’s most famous residents: Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We talked about how engineers solve problems and put on our engineering hats to roleplay how we would solve the problems Brunel faced. We held a competition to design and build our own bridges. We worked in teams and there was quite a variety!

We then became geographers, working together to find Brunel’s famous landmarks on maps.

Afterwards, we found a portrait of Brunel and discussed how we could tell that he was from the past. Freya said that the photo was ‘dark’, Lorenzo said that he had a tie on and Isabella said that he had old shoes on. We then drew our own portraits of Brunel – some of us even included his landmarks in the background.
