Doodle Maths

Doodle Maths is an app that the children can use in school and at home. The app supports the development of their number, calculation, shape and measure skills. Children have their own login from Reception and are all encouraged to “doodle” for ten minutes each day.  Each child has a personalised learning programme that they systematically work through. Doodle automatically targets tricky topics, fills learning gaps and consolidates knowledge.  Teachers and parents are also able to set extra challenges!

Numicon

Numicon is a multi-sensory teaching approach that helps children learn maths by seeing, feeling and making connections between the numbers. Numicon is based on the concrete-pictorial-abstract approach which uses physical and visual aids to help children understand abstract topics. The physical shape for each number help children:

• See connections between numbers
• Notice patterns.
• Understanding the relationship and value of numbers

  In Reception parents are invited to a Numicon workshop where every child receives their own set of Numicon to take home. Teachers create videos containing Numicon challenges that parents and carers can try with their children at home.
