Bug Club

November 30, 2020

We have been enjoying using Bug Club this term in Sycamore Class. Bug Club is an interactive reading experience for children which they can use both in school and at home via the following link: https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0
Children can choose to read it themselves or listen to the story being read. There are questions they can answer to check their understanding and each book they read gives them coins which they can use to play fun games on the website.

We have a huge range of Bug Club books in school. Many of these are linked to children’s interests and can be allocated to children so that they can read these on the website via a computer, tablet or phone. They also have information inside about key words and phonics sounds the children may find inside.

There are also lots of phonetically decodable books from Bug Club. These are books that contain lots of words which children can use their phonics to read. There are books from Phonics Phase 1 to Phase 6 and they really help support children’s segmenting and blending skills. We use them as part of our phonics sessions in class so that children can practise the sounds they have been learning.

If you need help with logging on to Bug Club at home please send us a message on Class Dojo and we can help.
