Goldilocks and The Three Bears

September 24, 2022

What an amazing start to the week! The children were surprised on Monday when they arrived to a crime scene… Someone had entered the classroom over the weekend and the children had to work out who! They definitely rose to the challenge and enjoyed exploring the whole environment looking for clues. Finding lots in interesting things including a tipped over chair, some fur, spilt porridge oats, footprints in the sand, a den, three bowls and three spoons – one big, one medium sized and one small. Being amazing detectives they quickly worked out what our story this term was and so our adventures began. The children have loved being immersed in the world of story this week – retelling the story everyday and in lots of different ways. Bringing the story to life through puppets, song, art, drama and makaton to name a few. They have quickly learnt the rhythm and cadence of the story and their bear voices are captivating! We have tried to incorporate the story into every aspect of learning from counting out cutlery for a picnic for the bears in maths, to moving like bears or turning in to furniture in PE, to linking the ethics of entering a house in PSHE. Following the children’s interests we are already planning to make porridge next week and are beginning to look at recipes. As well as continuing to explore why Goldilocks went in to the house as this is something that is really puzzling them and they want to understand this more!
