This week we explored the beautiful festival of the Chinese New Year. The children loved exploring all the real life artefacts and finding out lot of new facts about the Chinese culture. On Monday, we spent the day exploring the reason why people celebrate the festival, the colours that are important to them and the story behind it. Engaging in lots of fun activities such as Chinese writing, making money pouches, recreating fans, researching facts and more. Throughout the week we continued to learn much more engaging in Chinese ribbon dancing, making our own Chinese dragons and using the story of ‘The Great Race’ to help us in our maths. We even made fortune cookies! As usual continuos provision provided time for the children to follow their own interests which of course they did: writing secret messages in Chinese writing, creating their own Chinese New Year anmals, making their own temples and much more.
