Diwali and Tinkering Tuesday

October 24, 2022

Diwali

On Monday, we spoke about the celebration of Diwali. We learnt lots of new information about Diwali through reading stories, a PowerPoint and a lovely assembly by Mrs Boden. We found Diwali to be a beautiful, enjoyable celebration with lots of colour, light and love. We especially loved looking at rangoli patterns which we then made in Art using oil pastels and decorating biscuits with colourful icing with Miss W.

Happy Diwali everyone!

Tinkering Tuesday

For Tinkering Tuesday we had to build a trap to catch the big, bad wolf in small groups. We used lots of junk modelling to make our traps such as cardboard, plastic, and paper. We thought about the properties of these materials and discussed within our groups what materials would be most suitable to make a robust and stable trap to capture the wolf. The children all built successful traps and captured the big, bad wolf which produced lots of giggles. Lots of groups lured the wolf in by leaving tasty, attractive food by their trap which was a very clever idea! Everyone worked really hard, listened to their groups’ ideas and worked as bee learners.

What a brilliant first Tinkering Tuesday we had Fir, well done!
