Term 3 Week 4 – Birdwatching Week

January 28, 2022

This week we had the Big Garden Birdwatch. We came in on Monday to find that lots of birds had made nests in our outdoor environment. We spotted bluetits, chaffinches, robins and more in the trees and on our equipment. We were mathematicians using tally charts, ticks and numerals to survey them. On Tuesday, we made bird feeders so that we could look after our new friends. We were scientists, engineers, mathematicians and artists all at once, as we designed and built our birdfeeders. Birds appeared in our artwork and in our stories independently and we enjoyed moving around our school pretending to be various kinds of birds. This term, we are learning about Bristol artist, Banksy. We discussed what we liked and disliked about his work, then ha a go at using his techniques. I wonder if any of Holly Class will spot any Banksy pieces around Bristol…. Thank you to all for another great week. Please look at the video to see some of the learning we’ve been getting up to!
